Increase in Bankruptcy Filing Fees

On June 1st, 2014 the Bankruptcy Court increased filing fees for all bankruptcy cases. Bankruptcy attorneys collect these fees from their clients and then pay these amounts to the Bankruptcy Court at the time the bankruptcy petition is filed. The new fee for a Chapter 7 bankruptcy is now $335.00, which represented a $29.00 increase from the old filing fee of $306.00. The new fee for a Chapter 11 bankruptcy is now $1,717.00, which represented a $504.00 increase from the old filing fee of $1,213.00. The new fee for a Chapter 12 bankruptcy is now $275.00, which represented a $29.00 increase from the old filing fee of $246.00. The new fee for a Chapter 13 bankruptcy is now $310.00, which represented a $29.00 increase from the old filing fee of $281.00.

Additionally, the new fee for a for filing an adversary complaint in a Bankruptcy Court is now $350.00, which represented a $57.00 increase from the old filing fee of $293.00.
